The Charlie White Theatre Stage

The Charlie White Theatre is a proscenium style theatre that has been built with convenience in mind.  There are three separate entrances onto the stage including a large pair of oversized double doors stage left, a moveable panel wall that creates a 16’x8’ opening in the back stage wall and regular cross over doors both stage right and left.  The stage itself has a 16’ semi circular removable apron that is made up of modular panels on legs that lock together.

Technical Equipment

A complete technical inventory is available on request through the Charlie White Theatre Technical Manager.

Sound

The theatre has a full performance PA professionally designed and installed by Pacific Audio Works, Victoria.  It is capable of supporting any theatrical, musical or multimedia production.  There is a 24 channel mixing console, 24 channel snake onstage and 2 monitor mixes from FOH.  A wide selection of mics is available to compliment all types of events.

Lights

Chosen with versatility in mind, the current show consists of approximately 100 different instruments.  There are 96 channels.  The Dimmer controller is an ETC 24/48 Expressions Console.  Its versatile combination of fader-familiar two-scene presets and pushbutton programmability means it is very accessible.  Under the direction of the Technical Manager, those new to board operation will find it is an easy system to master.  There are stage and front of house lighting positions and a newly installed lighting position above the stage apron.

Projection

A front of house position permanently houses a video projector.  This projector can be used for theatrical production, multi media presentations, lectures, power point presentations and web casts.  A fully operational podium console, complete with lights and a microphone, makes it easy for speakers to operate the system.  Above the apron of the stage is an electrically operated 12’x12’ front projection screen.

Intercom

A newly installed backstage intercom system will make communication with all technicians and back stage easy.  A front of house console has also been installed for ease of opening and closing the house.

Drapes

The regal red Main Drape of the Charlie White Theatre is a traveler.  It is hand operated from a stage left position.  Various sized black legs and teasers can be moved to appropriate positions by the Technical Manager.  The theatre has a brand new cyclorama.  All the draperies have been treated and are fire resistant according to NFPA 701.

Hearing Enhancement

A brand new hearing enhancement system has been installed at the Charlie White Theatre.  There are 10 personal head sets available.

Back Stage Amenities

There are two large lockable dressing rooms with private bathrooms and proper lit make-up mirrors.  An additional common area is great for make-up, final preparations and “greenroom” activities.  A walk-in shower is also available.

A 500 sq ft theatre workshop is available adjacent to the stage.  The workshop is partially set-up with the tools necessary to build theatrical sets.  The theatre loading bay goes through the shop into the theatre.

Storage area for sets, furniture and props is available backstage while a production is running.  This large area is the cross over for the theatre and has an accessible ramp entrance from the lobby for backstage personnel.
